What Data do we collect?

Your Public Contributions

When you make a contribution to any Wikimedia Site, including on user or discussion pages, you are creating a permanent, public record of every piece of content added, removed, or altered by you. The page history will show when your contribution or deletion was made, as well as your username (if you are signed in) or your temporary account username (if you are not signed in).

Account Information & Registration

You are not required to create an account with StormWiki in order to utilise the site; StormWiki is free for the public to use. That being said; should you create an account with us, we track the following information:

• Your Account Name
• Your Password (encrypted and secure)

We do not have a way of taking your email, so resetting a password will require contacting us directly.

Metadata

Should you upload an image to this wiki, there is a chance (not intended) that we may collect metadata of the image including your locational data. This is not an intended feature, and if you wish to prevent this happening you will need to manage your device settings, or remove metadata from the image. If you believe that metadata has found its way onto our server, please contact us and we will work with you to sort the problem.

IP Addresses

When you visit StormWiki we automatically receive the IP Address of the device (or your proxy server) you are using to access the Internet, which could be used to infer your geographical location. This information is not stored, but is visible when you are connected.

Browser Information

When you visit StormWiki we will automatically receive information regarding your Browser and Operating system.

How do we collect your data?

You directly provide StormWiki with a majority of the data we collect;

• Your account information upon account creation
• Your IP and Browser Information upon using the website

How do we store your data?

StormWiki stores your data on our secure VPS that is based in Europe; we use a variety of methods to ensure that your data is secured such as encryption on passwords and layers of security regarding access to the VPS.

What are your data protection rights?

In order to ensure you, the user, are aware of your rights we have outlined them here as per UK Government guidelines(Further reading can be found here)

1. Right to be informed - You have the right to be informed about how your data is being used.
2. Right to access - You have the right to access any personal data that is being stored.
3. Right to Update - You have to the right to update any data that may be incorrect.
4. Right to Removal & Erasure - You have the right to have any and all data that we have erased.
5. Right to Restrict - You have the right to stop or restrict the processing of your data.
6. Right to Objection - You have the right to object how your data is processed in certain circumstances.

You also have rights when an organisation is using your personal data for:

What we do not store

As we do not ask for email in your account creation, and we strongly recommend against using your legal name as account name, we can safely say that we do not store any data regarding your Name, Address, Age, Race, Contact Details, Sexuality, Browsing History, or GPS information (should you be on your phone). If you believe that any of this data has ended up on our server please reach out to us ASAP and we will have it removed.
